One licensed contractor, start to finish

Most asbestos problems involve more than one trade: something needs testing, something needs removing, and then somebody has to get rid of it legally. We hold the licence and the waste carrier registration to do all of it, which means one point of contact and one set of paperwork.

01

Licensed asbestos removal

The highest-risk materials, including sprayed coatings, pipe lagging and asbestos insulating board, can only be removed by an HSE-licensed contractor. We hold that licence and work under full controlled conditions: a sealed enclosure, negative pressure units, airlocks, a baglock and decontamination facilities on site.

Every licensed job is notified to the HSE 14 days in advance via an ASB5, and finishes with an independent UKAS-accredited analyst carrying out a four-stage clearance before the enclosure comes down. You get the certificate; the area is safe to reoccupy.

  • Asbestos insulating board to ceilings, soffits, ducts and partitions
  • Sprayed coatings and thermal insulation to pipework and plant
  • Negative pressure enclosures with full decontamination units

Non-licensed and NNLW removal

Lower-risk materials such as asbestos cement sheeting, floor tiles, rainwater goods and most textured coatings fall outside the licensing regime, but they still need trained operatives, the right controls and legal disposal. Plenty of work in this category is notifiable non-licensed work (NNLW), which carries its own record-keeping and medical surveillance requirements.

This is where most of our domestic asbestos removal sits: garage roofs, sheds, soffits and floor coverings, usually done in a day.

03

Bulk sampling, testing & surveys

Before anything can be priced properly, you need to know what you are dealing with. We take bulk samples under controlled conditions and send them to a UKAS-accredited laboratory, then explain what comes back without the jargon.

For larger properties we arrange management surveys, which identify asbestos that could be disturbed during normal occupation, and refurbishment and demolition surveys, which are intrusive and required before any building work begins.

  • Bulk sampling with UKAS-accredited laboratory analysis
  • Management surveys for duty holders under Regulation 4
  • Refurbishment and demolition surveys before works start
  • Written results and a plain English explanation of what they mean

Collection & disposal of asbestos waste

Asbestos is hazardous waste. It cannot go in a skip, it cannot go to the local tip in a bin bag, and fly-tipping it carries serious penalties. As an Environment Agency registered carrier we collect asbestos waste from site, double bag and label it correctly, and consign it to a licensed disposal facility.

You receive the consignment note and disposal documentation, which is what a landlord, insurer or building control officer will ask to see. We also collect material that somebody else has already removed, provided it has been wrapped correctly.

05

Repair, encapsulation & management

Removal is not always the right answer. Asbestos that is in good condition, sealed and unlikely to be disturbed is often safer left in place and managed properly. We repair damaged materials, encapsulate them where appropriate, and set up re-inspection programmes so the condition is monitored rather than forgotten.

For commercial duty holders this feeds straight into your asbestos register and management plan. Our commercial asbestos service covers long-term programmes across single sites and whole portfolios.

  • Scheduled re-inspection and condition monitoring
  • Encapsulation and sealing of materials left in place
  • Register updates and management plan support
