Domestic Asbestos Removal in Stockport & Beyond

Asbestos removal for homes, carried out by a licensed, family-run team who will treat your property like their own. From a single garage roof to a full house strip out.

Why it matters

Protecting your home, family and peace of mind

Asbestos in your home can pose a serious risk to you and your family if it is disturbed or handled incorrectly.

At Asbestos Removal Team Ltd, we provide safe, professional asbestos removal services across Stockport and the surrounding areas, giving homeowners confidence that their property is in experienced hands. From initial planning through to safe removal and disposal, our team works carefully and efficiently to protect your home, your family and your peace of mind.

Most homes built or refurbished before the year 2000 contain asbestos somewhere. It is rarely a reason to panic. Left alone and in good condition, many materials are perfectly safe. The risk comes when they are drilled, broken, sanded or pulled down during building work. If you are planning a renovation and something looks suspect, stop and call us before you touch it.

What we remove

Common asbestos materials in UK homes

Garage and shed roofs

Corrugated asbestos cement sheeting is the single most common domestic job we attend. Non-licensed work in most cases, usually completed in a day, with the sheets removed whole rather than broken up.

Textured coatings

Artex and similar decorative ceiling and wall coatings applied before the mid 1980s often contain chrysotile. We remove or strip them under controlled conditions rather than sanding them down.

Asbestos insulating board

AIB turns up in ceilings, soffits, airing cupboards, around boilers and behind fire doors. This is licensed work and needs a sealed enclosure under negative pressure, which is exactly how we do it.

Floor tiles and bitumen

Thermoplastic tiles and the black bitumen adhesive beneath them frequently contain asbestos. We lift them cleanly so the floor is ready for whatever comes next.

Soffits, gutters and downpipes

Asbestos cement rainwater goods and soffit boards are common on properties from the 1950s onwards. We remove them safely and leave the elevation ready for replacement.

Water tanks and flues

Cold water storage tanks in the loft and old boiler flues are easy to knock during a loft conversion. We take them out before the work starts so your builders can carry on safely.

How it works

What happens when you call us

A straightforward process, explained in plain English at every stage.

  1. Tell us what you have found

Send a photo and a rough idea of the size. In most cases we can tell you straight away whether it is likely to be asbestos and whether the work is licensed or non-licensed.

  2. Sampling if you need certainty

If there is any doubt, we take a bulk sample and send it to a UKAS-accredited laboratory. You get a written result rather than a guess.

  3. A fixed, written quote

You receive a clear price covering removal, cleaning, waste consignment and disposal. No hourly rates that creep and no surprise extras once we are on site.

  4. Removal, clearance and paperwork

We set up, remove, clean down and dispose of the waste through licensed channels. For licensed works an independent analyst issues a clearance certificate before anyone reoccupies.

Homeowner questions

Do I need to move out?

For most domestic jobs, no. Non-licensed work such as a garage roof happens outside and you can carry on as normal.

Licensed work inside the house is different. We build a sealed enclosure around the work area and run it under negative pressure, so the rest of the property stays unaffected. You can usually stay in the house and use the rooms outside the enclosure, and we will tell you honestly at survey stage if that is not practical for your particular job.

  • Dust sheets, floor protection and clean access routes as standard
  • Skips and waste kept off your neighbours' driveways
  • Clearance certificate issued before reoccupation on licensed works
  • Waste consignment notes handed over for your records
